DACRES RETAINS TOP SALES POSITION IN KNARESBOROUGH’S PROPERTY MARKET

A property firm that has been based in Knaresborough for 47 years, is once again the top selling estate agent in and around Knaresborough, according to the latest sales data sourced from property portal Rightmove.

Dacre, Son & Hartley has been responsible for 83 of the 442 residential properties that were sold across the YO26 8 and 9 and HG5 0, 8 and 9 postcode areas throughout 2025.

The data places the firm first out of the 62 estate agents active across the area. Its nearest competitor completed 63 sales over the same period, underlining a clear lead at the top of a competitive local marketplace for Dacres.

Based on Knaresborough’s High Street for almost five decades, Dacre, Son & Hartley has now held the number one sales position for many consecutive years, demonstrating consistently strong performance. This year the firm accounted for approximately 18.8%of all properties sold in the market – an increase on last year’s 17%.

Nick Alcock, branch manager at Dacres in Knaresborough, said the results reflect both local expertise and long-standing client relationships. “These figures show that we successfully sold nearly one in five properties changing hands in this area over the last year,” he said. “In a market with more than 60 agents competing for instructions, that level of market share is a testament to the experience of our team and the trust placed in us by our valued clients.”

The postcodes covered by the Rightmove analysis include Knaresborough town centre and a wide range of surrounding villages, including Scotton, Arkendale, Coneythorpe, Flaxby, Goldsborough, Kirk Hammerton, Green Hammerton, Whixley and Little Ouseburn.
